Hip Hip Hooray: A Back Story
The hips are essential to our balance, mobility, stability, and fundamental physical structure; yet they can be a source of concern in our everyday lives and a challenge in our yoga practice. Hips can be tight, uneven, sloppy, stiff, and inaccessible given their complexity.
We will explore the hips and their relationship to the legs and lower back, and learn yoga pose sequences for pain relief.
Come and learn what you can do to better manage your hips in your life and in your yoga practice. Also, learn how to improve the health and function of your back by understanding your spinal structure and habits and see how to better use yoga therapeutically for your body.
Back pain afflicts most of us at some time, from the sedentary person to the elite athlete. Fortunately, Iyengar yoga has proven to be both healing and preventative in the treatment of lower, middle, and upper back pain.
In this workshop you will:
Learn the principles of spinal adjustment
Use props to promote your flexibility and stability
Find out how to maintain back strength and mobility
Better understand the connections of the back to the hips and legs
Practice back care yoga poses with greater ease and clear linkages
Develop greater spinal awareness and neuromuscular coordination
